mfldirect FAQs

All of our stock consists of ex-Motability fleet cars meaning you will have access to the widest range of used cars available to the UK trade. The vast majority will be single owner, low mileage and fully dealer maintained. The range covers nearly 40 manufacturers, 240 models and 4,000 derivatives.

Are your cars retail ready? What condition can I expect your cars to be in?

The only cars that appear on mfldirect.co.uk are those we are told meet the mfldirect Condition Standards. These cars will be of a trade standard that is commensurate with age and mileage. All of our cars will require some work to bring them up to retail standard.

How do you price your cars?

Our prices are market driven and reviewed daily.

What are your opening times?

The website, mfldirect.co.uk, is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our offices are open from 08:30 to 17:30 Monday to Friday.

Can I bid for cars?

We do not currently offer this facility. Our prices are reviewed daily so we can ensure you are getting the most up to date price in relation to the market.

Can I collect vehicles?

Whenever you purchase a vehicle on mfldirect you will be given the option of collecting the car or having it delivered.

Where are your collection points?

Our vehicles are returned to dealerships located across the whole of the UK. Each vehicle made available for sale on mfldirect.co.uk will show the collection address.

How much is delivery?

The delivery is based on the distance the car has to travel to get to you. When you buy a car from us we will show you the delivery cost, you can then decide if you’d like it delivered or if you’d prefer to collect it yourself.

Can I look on your website before I sign up?

Unfortunately it is not possible to view our website before we have approved your application for an mfldirect account. Once we have approved your application, we will send you a user name and password.

Do I have to be in the motor trade to buy from you?

Yes, due to the way mfldirect.co.uk operates, we are only able to sell our vehicles to registered motor traders. If you are a member of the public and you would like to buy an ex-Motability vehicle, we would recommend contacting dealers in your local area to see if they can assist you.

How do I buy cars?

Once you have an mfldirect account, you will be issued with a line of credit. Every time you buy a car – whether online or over the phone – we will draw down against that credit. The day the car becomes available for collection or delivery the money will be transferred from your bank account via Direct Debit. Once we receive the money in our account your credit limit online will be reinstated.

Why do I need a credit limit?

Although all of our payments are requested via Direct Debit, the credit limit will cover the time between when the car is available to you and when the funds reach our accounts. For this reason, and the number of cars we transact per day we are unable to offer a ‘pay as you purchase’ facility.

Once I sign up, when can I start buying?

Due to the 10 working days it takes for banks to set up a business Direct Debit, the sooner you return your signed Direct Debit mandate to us, the sooner you can start buying.

Why do you need my VAT number?

We ask for your VAT number as it’s the easiest and most accurate way for us to complete a credit check and get you set up on mfldirect. From this we can gather the information we need from Experian to best establish your credit limit.

Why do you need additional information from me, like business accounts, receipts and invoices?

If you are not on Experian, or if we can’t get the information we need from here, we ask for these details so we can best establish your credit limit. We will mainly use Experian where we can but to ensure we give you the best credit limit we ask for some additional information.

How do I apply if I do not have business accounts?

If you are a new business and are unable to provide us with this information you will be able to reapply once the business has been trading for a minimum of 6 months and you are able to provide us with business accounts. At this stage we will be able to review your application.

Can I sign up if I’m in the Republic of Ireland?

Yes, but you need a UK sterling bank account and a UK registered business address, as mfldirect trades in GBP.
